The R1150 R was BMW's popular and stalwart Roadster from the "Oilhead" period of Boxer Twins (roughly mid-1990s through mid-2000s).

Factory OPTIONS included with it are:

The GOOD news: The Project Bike starts and runs well. The transmission and clutch are working as they should. No oil leaks were noted. The brakes work well, and all pads and rotors are in spec. (This is a non-ABS model.) The speedometer and odometer function properly.

This bike was brought to Bob’s for service 6 months ago by its previous owner. At that time, we performed the following maintenance:
Renew Fork Seals, Renew Front Brake Pads, Renew Rear Brake Rotor and Brake Pads.

Now, here is a list of the challenges that still await this bike’s next owner. Though they are numerous, they are all manageable and can be addressed without a large investment, and on some of them, repair/replacement is purely discretionary.
 • Both tires are old and worn unevenly. They should be replaced.
 • Left-side body panel (battery cover) is broken near the front end. 
 • Fuel cap water drain is plugged, and the cap is installed backwards (not critical)
 • Fuel Lines are routed incorrectly
 • Fuel tank vent lines are routed incorrectly resulting in some fuel staining on the swingarm
NOTE: this bike's color is not an original BMW paint color, meaning it was  repainted at some point — not recently by the look of things. Thus, it's quite likely that some of the incorrect installation issues mentioned above occured when the bike was reassembled after painting. None present a great deal of difficulty to correct, but should be corrected sooner rather than later.
 • Tip-over damage on both sides can be seen on valve covers, foot pegs, passenger pegs and mounts, mirrors, brake & clutch levers, and bar-ends
 • Front brake master cylinder housing has a small crack (possibly also from a tip-over), though it is not leaking.
 • Headlight assembly vibrates excessively when bike is being ridden. The cause is one of the supporting bracket bolts is only halfway in. Inspection revealed that the bolt is cross-threaded (stuck) and the head is also stripped.
 • The rear, right-side reflector is missing (required to pass inspection.)
 • Side Cases have cosmetic issues (scratches and scuffs) a bit more than usual.

All that may look like a lot, but to any BMW enthusiast with some tools and a little know-how, it's just a Call to Action! C'mon, time's a-wastin'. Let's get BUSY!
