The demo ride is the most important part of the purchase process, which is why it is available for new and pre-owned motorcycles at Bob’s Motorcycles. Sure the bike looks good (all BMW's do!) but is the right fit for you? There is only one way to find out.

1. What is the best day to schedule a demo ride?
Customers can call (301) 497-8949 ext. 501 Tuesday through Saturday to schedule a test ride. Our last appointment is one hour before closing. Saturdays tend to be our busiest day of the week so typically the “best” days for test rides are Tuesday-Friday. Bob's Motorcycles always reserves the right to reschedule or postpone demo rides depending on weather or road conditions (i.e. snow covered roads, ice, heavy rain, etc.).

2. Do I need to schedule an appointment in advance?
We prefer that you schedule your test ride in advance so we can have everything ready when you arrive; however we will always do our very best accommodate walk-ins. Please note we stop sending out test rides an hour before closing.

3. Do I need to bring my own gear and helmet?
For the best experience and most enjoyable ride, it is our professional opinion that customers bring their own riding gear. We follow Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) standards and require riders to have a DOT approved helmet, jacket, gloves, full length pants, and over the ankle boots.

If you do not have all the required gear, Bob's Motorcycles does offer loaner jackets, gloves, and helmets. We do not have loaner pants or boots.

4. Do I have to have a current motorcycle operator's permit to take a demo ride?
YES!

5. Can I take a demo ride if it is raining?
Yes and no. It depends on your experience so please give us a call first. 301-497-8949.

6. Are demo rides free?
Yes they are. A deposit is required just as if you were renting a bike or car. It is generally 10% of the motorcycle's retail value or $1,000, whichever is greater. Credit cards are accepted and when the bike is returned in the condition it left, the transaction is voided and never even shows on your statement!

7. This is my first motorcycle, am I still allowed to take a demo ride?
Your safety and enjoyment are our number one concerns at all times. You must have a motorcycle operators permit and we will ask a few questions about your overall skills and experience; some required by BMW, others by our insurance company

8.Typically how long do demo rides last?
It depends on the rider but we feel 30 minutes is a good starting point.

9. Can I take a passenger?
Yes, but we do ask that you first take a solo ride. The passenger will be required to also sign the release form.

10. Do you offer demo rides on your used bikes as well?
Absolutely! We practically insist!
