Hello to all Bob’s Motorcycle customers, fellow motorcycle enthusiasts and new visitors to our website,

I am very pleased to officially announce that the next Bob’s Special Motorcycles Tour in partnership with our good friends at Edelweiss Bike Travel (EBT) will be this fall. And while my finger may not be pointing exactly to our next location, I am confident you get the reason I created this image.

We are going to Portugal, a location long on the list. And this is not a standard EBT tour you will find in their print or online catalog. As has been standard for close to 30 years, Bob’s and EBT have crafted some additions, changes, and other fun included in these adventures to make them more fun and at the same time offer a little extra relaxation and time to enjoy and explore some of the more interesting places we ride through or spend a night or two in. The roads, the people, the accommodations, our guides and support van staff, the food, the wine, the scenery, the history, and much more are superb.

This tour has what I have come to know and experience as the very best balance of riding time or hours in the saddle, the level of difficulty or skill set required, along with the time to explore the beautiful country we are visiting be it along each day’s ride, in the towns and cities we visit and stay, or something you personally select on one of the rest days during which we all choose our schedule so one can still spend the entire day riding or sleep in a little bit, still spend most of the day riding, or stay in that great location and explore on foot. You could skip lunch completely or enjoy a larger meal in the middle of the day at a place no one else has discovered yet. It is up to you.

We always stop in good places for lunch but on the Bob’s/EBT tours there is always at least one roadside picnic, where our tour guides will prepare a special feast for us to enjoy at a scenic location. If the weather holds steady and there is great interest, we can usually convince the guides to present us with a second picnic. Breakfast will always be at our hotel, and for those who might be joining us for their first organized group tour, you may want to take pictures because it is generally way beyond anything offered up in the USA even for a Sunday brunch.  Our dinners will be in a wide variety of locations based on where we are in the tour schedule. But we’ve had fabulous meals at the hotels we are staying in along with many casual and fine dining restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. As a solid foodie, I can tell you that I have never had anything close to a simply average meal on any of our tours.

A special Bob’s addition to this tour is a pre-tour dinner at an authentic Portuguese restaurant in the nearby Maryland suburbs. This is included for all participants right down to the tax and tip on a wonderful multicourse meal with your choice of beverages. This will typically be held about 30-45 days in advance of our getting on planes for Lisbon, where we will meet again at our first hotel and arrival city in Portugal. While we have not been able to do this for every tour, on each one we have, the friendships start that much earlier, and I’m pleased to share that we’ve shared those advance tables and food with participants from as far away as California and Canada.

One more extra included from Bob’s is that we offer personal, scheduled consultations for our participants for selecting and being professionally fitted for any riding gear (head to toe) you’d like to update or upgrade along with a generous discount from Bob’s. That discount also applies to gear and helmet bags to make your travel that much easier, helmet comm systems, or a new GPS or similar tool to allow you to follow our routes easier or do some exploring on your own on one of the rest days. Essentially, if we stock it now or can order it in for you from one of our many vendors, you’ll get a special price by buying it from Bob’s. And if you don’t live close enough to stop in, we can professionally assist you on the phone as we’ve done for 35 plus years.

I’ve been talking this tour up behind the scenes with those who have joined us on tours in the prior few years, so when you read this, you will be joining me and eight others who are already signed up and excited.
