Fits the R 1200 RT LC (2014 and later models) & R1250RT

Unfortunately, the original steering stops are simply not strong enough. They can be damaged by harmless falls or a strong knock. If this happens, the top yoke (upper clamp) as well as the frame can be damaged, and the fork tubes and Telelever are vulnerable as well. All this can lead to expensive repairs and a great deal of aggravation.

We have opted for a new approach with the R 1200 RT LC. The protector brackets bolt onto the Telelever and the bumpers contact the fork slider just before the original steering stop would make contact. This softens the blow and as the rubber bumper compresses, it progressively becomes a solid stop for the forks. Also, this makes fully turning the handlebar significantly more pleasant.

Installation Information : The installation instructions can be downloaded from the link above. The instructions show a GS but the procedure is the same. One difference is that there is much less room to maneuver when installing the steering stops on an RT.

Here is a tip: Connect the steering stop assembly to the holding bracket with a long (20-30mm) M5 bolt (not included). Then in combination with positioning the steering stop bracket, fish the holding bracket through the hole in the Telelever. Once you've done that, pull the holding bracket up into position with that long screw. Then screw in one of the two screws before removing the long screw and replacing it with the correct one. This makes installation a snap with very little fiddling around. Be sure to use thread locking fluid on all fasteners. If you don't have some already, please see the Related Products.
